I don’t remember how long I was with him, but he was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and he was extremely smart. He looked me up on Facebook years later (he would have been around 17 or so at the time) and told me how much services helped him, and that he was thinking about a career in mental health due how much we had helped him through some rough times.”

My knowledge of the intellectually and developmentally disabled population wasn’t great but I was excited and willing to learn.
